IntuBlade Q3 2024 Update: Launch, Growth, and a Look Ahead
IntuBlade Q3 2024 Update
-Andrew Napier, MD
It’s been an exciting and transformative quarter here at IntuBlade, filled with milestones that we’ve been working toward for years. The biggest news? Our official product launch! After years of development, we’ve finally brought our next-generation video laryngoscope to market, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. In just a few weeks, we’ve already exceeded our projected sales for the first three months, a testament to the strong demand for a better, more efficient solution to airway management. Seeing the product in use and hearing feedback from our early adopters is a gratifying reminder of why we started this journey in the first place—to improve patient outcomes and simplify the work of healthcare professionals in critical situations.
Alongside the launch, we’ve also made significant progress on the technology front. We’re thrilled to announce that IntuBlade has been accepted into both the startup programs at Google, Microsoft, AWS, and the NVIDIA Inception Program. These partnerships will be pivotal in helping us scale our app’s capabilities, including cloud-based video storage and AI-driven intubation tools, which are key to improving precision during intubations. Our app, which is now live on both Android and iPad, has received enthusiastic feedback from users, and we’re already working on expanding its features based on early insights. In fact, our recent patent filing for AI-enhanced depth perception is a big step forward in making intubation safer and more accurate.
On the financial side, we’ve also taken a major leap with the submission of our SBIR AFWERX grant, which, if approved, will provide essential funding to advance our technology. This grant would support our ongoing app development, specifically around machine learning and integrating more advanced AI features to improve usability and outcomes. We’re incredibly excited about the possibilities this could unlock for us and are optimistic as we wait for the decision.
In terms of team growth, we’ve brought on some key new hires that will strengthen our capabilities moving forward. First, we’re excited to welcome Dr. Benjamin Fedeles, a board-certified anesthesiologist and critical care physician with an extensive military background, as our new Medical Advisor. His insights will be invaluable as we continue refining our product for pre-hospital and emergency care settings. Additionally, we’ve expanded our leadership team with the hiring of a Chief of Staff, who will be crucial in helping manage operations as we scale, and a Creative Director, who is helping to sharpen our brand identity as we expand into new markets. We’ve also added new engineers to our tech team, who are focused on improving our app’s functionality across all platforms, including Mac and Windows, which are in the works.
Our momentum is further fueled by our recognition as the winner of the VetsInTech pitch competition this fall, which highlights companies founded by veterans and focuses on cutting-edge innovation. We’re honored to have won the $25,000 prize, which is going directly toward expanding our operations and tech capabilities. This recognition is especially meaningful to us given our roots in both healthcare and the military.
We’ve also had some great success on the conference circuit, recently wrapping up a major EMS conference where our product was named a finalist for the EMS World Innovation Award. It’s been inspiring to connect with so many industry leaders, and we’re excited to continue those conversations as we explore new partnerships and opportunities. We’re also actively pursuing relationships with organizations like EMR providers, which would allow for integration between our intubation video data and their electronic medical records system—a move that could streamline data sharing and improve care coordination.
As always, no update would be complete without acknowledging the challenges we’re tackling. We’re continuing to work through supply chain issues, especially around packaging and meeting production deadlines. These logistical hurdles have caused some minor delays, but we remain on track for our broader rollout later this year. Our team is also focused on addressing iPhone compatibility issues, which have proven trickier than expected due to Apple’s system constraints, but we’re confident that we’ll resolve these soon.
In closing, this quarter has been one of incredible growth, learning, and achievement for IntuBlade. We’ve reached milestones that felt far off just a few months ago, and we’re excited about what’s to come. The support from our investors, partners, and early customers has been instrumental in getting us to this point, and we’re eager to keep building on this momentum as we head into Q4 and beyond. There’s a lot more on the horizon, and we’re thrilled to have you with us on this journey as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in airway management.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your continued support!
